Minimalism Computing

I’m starting to hate the Internet – considering I make my living off the web. How ironic.

I’m going to buy a laptop once every 10 years (Which is like, 5 generations in computer time according to Moore’s law)

You can get away from buying a laptop every 3 years if you do “Minimalism Computing” which is running programs off the Internet.

For example, you can run word documents and spreadsheet using Google Docs. (free) Also you can do photo editing using Adobe Online which is also free.

So basically you do everything on the Internet — that’s what people do anyways, when they’re on youtube/twitter/facebook.

The only problem I can see is that in the 8 years mark (which is 2018) streaming movies is going to be in hi-def, and even possibly be in Blue Ray quality — not sure if my current 2006 laptop can handle that.

Also cool benefit of Minimalism Computing is you don’t need tons of storage space. Nowaday people are buying terabyte hard drives, which is nice — but then you realize you don’t need much hard drive when you’re streaming all your movies and music.

Personally I don’t collect any ebooks/movies/musics/pictures (besides the ones in my camera)

(BTW, digital hoarding is just as bad as people who collect useless stuff in the garbage and store it in their house)

Here’s my Minimalism Computing software list:

1. Music – http://www.shoutcast.com
2. Documents – textpad, Google Spread Sheets
3. Web Design – NVU (HTML editor)
4. Videos – youtube, google videos, other online streaming websites
5. IM – MSN, and www.meebo.com

That’s basically it :)

Here's a quick way to make $180 per day - step by step (no investment required)
