I applied for a MasterCard … without I.Ds

The other day I was walking and saw a credit card advertisement with the bank I have a checking account with. I’m going to give in and get a credit card because of the convenience – it’s kinda awkward carrying $4000 cash around when you’re some expensive electronics, booking a flight or hotel and such.

So, a credit card is also a neccessity.

So I was being friendly, called the bank manager “my lady’ right off the bat. I was just asking questions about the master card, she asked if I wanted one and if I had any I.Ds on me … which I didn’t bring, so she just asked my name and birthday, and she pulled all my information from the computer. (This is another reason why you shouldn’t give your full name and birthday freely to strangers …)

And within 10 minutes of asking basic questions, she was done filling out the credit card application and was about to fax it to the company.

That was quick! With no document and I.Ds. This is better then the hassle the last time I tried to apply for a credit card over the phone where I had to give out all these infos, paper documents on my income and such.

But I guess the easily way to get a credit card is through your bank.

Now would I apply for a personal loans from the bank? No. Only use cash you have and avoid debt, that’s the cardinal rule :)
