Zen and Money
I grew up in a poor neighborhood, full of hookers and druggies. I’m surprised I didn’t prick my finger from a drug syringe playing outside as a kid. I remember this fat woman in her 40s, she was homeless and asked if we wanted to have sex with her for 10 dollars. (So … 10 dollars hooker do exist!)
Which brings me to the subject of money.
I think it’s pretty important to have a non-attached mentality when it comes to money.
Like the first time I made decent money I was tipping the waitress $8 on a $12 tab, or tipping cab drivers $5 on a $20 cab ride. Or tipping the hair stylist $6 on a $12 hair cut. (I rarely do this, but it’s nice to make someone’s day with good tip) Or playing 5-10 limit poker at the casino run by the Chinese Triad and losing $200 under 3 hours.
To many family problems and relationship gone bad with money, so it’s important to keep a detached attitude when it comes to money. It is just paper with assigned value after all.
I don’t like rampant consumerism myself, but it’s perfectly okay to spend big bucks on a leather jacket or shoe if it something nice you want. As long as you can afford it and doesn’t break your bank account, unlike some kids who starve to save their lunch money to buy name brand clothings. Ha ha!
Another weird thing is people who hate rich people. Seems kinda weird to me. Why waste your energy hating rich people (mostly out of jealously probably) instead of brain storming ideas to make money?
Just a thought.
