Sell your shit

Today I helped move someone’s furnitures because they’re moving out to a new house and I just noticed people have a lot of unnecessary shit around that makes moving a hassle. Wine glasses, shot glasses, 15 different types of tables and chairs, paintings, lamps, decoration, etc.

So much unnecessary crap.

Of course, I’m not anti-consumerism. I love my laptop and mp3 player, thank you. And there is nothing wrong with owning a lot of stuff, but when you get rid of useless junk and eliminate many things you don’t need, your life becomes lighter. Literally.

I live by my words, and this is everything I own.

(All my belonging in a duffel bag and backpack. Not long term storage stuff, this is all the belonging I need, down to the bare essentials)

I’m not hardcore enough to live out of my wallet. Now that I think of it, George Carlin once said that your house is just a place for your stuff. Otherwise people would walk around with their wallets all day.

Of course, the place I recommend for people to sell their sizzle is Ebay (I think everyone knows that by now?), just sell an item a day or something. For fun and profit. Or if that is too complicated for you, go to Craiglist.org and sell your stuff locally (listing is free)

Another advantage of living with little stuff is that you can pick up your duffel bag any day and travel around the world without worries about someone breaking in your home, or paying for long term storage and crap. I don’t even own a car or any debt, so I consider myself really free :D

Consider selling your shit to declutter your home and think hard next time you make a major purchase on any non-essential stuff, because it’s just stuff.
