A $280 lesson (poker)
It’s 6 AM in the morning and I’m in the biggest mall in Canada not because I have to work on the weekend but because I was at the casino playing poker for 12 hours straight with the old folks, the crazy, the semi-professional and everyone else in between.
Of course it’s customary for me to play one bet of roulette, so I bet $40 on black. Always. I have a good vibe with the dark force.
And I won! Easy $40.
Then I went to play poker on a 3/6 limit game for 12 hours straight and loved every second of it. All types of people play on the poker table, from the middle aged house wife to the blue collar, to college student to the retired and everyone else in between.
So I’m just talking to the players and dealers on the table, joking around and having fun – while drinking free Pepsi. I must’ve drank around 15+ cups of it by the end of the 12 hours. I was hyper as hell ;D
Some big pots in the game, going as high as $350+. I got a couple of bad beats in the game that pissed me the off, but that’s poker. I lost about $100 from one pot with a guy with two pair K and 9, I had pocket AA. The pot was pretty big, like $350+ because I kept capping the bet at $24.
One thing I don’t like about limit Texas Holdem is well, the betting limit. I like my all in moments, thanks. By the end of the night I profited $120. I love no limits :D
There was one black lady who was playing and kept flopping two pairs like 10 times that night.
Then we had a female dealer who was in a pissy mood, because some asshole old guy kept ragging on her at the other table. He got one month ban from the casino, heh. So anyways, its customary for players to tip the dealer every time a player wins a big pot. Well, we wanted to cheer her up so before she even dealt the cards I threw in $1 chip in her bucket, basketball style. I convinced 2 other people to throw in the bucket just for shit and giggles and they did.
At one point, I think it was 5 in the morning, when we had 2 Asian girls in their 30s playing in the table with us. This other Asian guy kept raising with air hand everyone one of the girls bet, so they went crazy and kept re-raising each other with air hands pre-flop. The pot was normally $50+ with them playing.
It was hard maintaining correct play all the time, because I had to concentrate and observe if someone is aggressive, loose, over bets often, bluff often, raise the flush draw, etc. A million things going on at once.
Then I had a caffeine crash and went retarded. Like literally. There were flush potential but I didn’t notice it, I re-raise a guy with $24 but I couldn’t count my chips properly and had other players help me out. It was pretty bad.
So I was up $120 in profit with $280 in chips when I moved to the 1 / 2 no limit table, played 1 hand and lost it all from Trips K with A kicker against full house. The guy flopped a full house and got the $600 pot.
I guess I should have stopped playing when I’m tired huh? That’s my $280 lesson. Lessoned learned.
All in all, it was an awesome time.
