A millionaire by 20, Part IV
A year or two passed by and I think I was on my last year of high school. So I phoned Ray to squeeze some information off him about Quang, and reminiscence about our high school days.
“So, what ever happened to Quang,” I asked.
“He dropped out of school,”
“Oh really?”
“Yeah he did …”
“So what does he do now?”
“He is a manager in a car dealership”
“No way!” I said, astonished. A 18 years old manager in a high end car dealership? “But he’s only 18,” I said.
“Yeah, but he got connections”
The conversation happened about 2 years ago. And to be honest, I don’t know what he really does now.
Perhaps he died from drag racing. Or maybe he owns a multi-million dollar corporation. Or a CEO of a fortune 500 company. Or he died from a drug overdose. Or he is in a ivy league university, but I doubt it. Most likely he’s making a very good living playing high stake on line poker and living a good life or making millions with his business.
And that is the Quang I know, the very few people I’ve met that are unorthodox and extraordinary. To me, Quang is a genuinely cool guy without the celebrity factor, cause he lives life how he wanted to life it.
Although he didn’t really inspire me, nor do I model him, I still give him props for having the courage and bravery at a young age.
To end this series, I’ll leave the readers with a quote from Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple:
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma–which is living with the results of other people’s thinking.
Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
