A millionaire by 20 Part I
This is a little back story of Quang, the most unconventional and unorthodox person I’ve met. He went from a juvenile delinquent to successful business owner. This is the story I would like to share about him.
The earliest memory I have of him is in grade 3, where we had the same teacher, same classes. He and I, we excuse our selves from the teacher, then we went outside the class room and straight to the coat rack.
“Hey what you’re going do?” I asked. “Getting the Pogs, of course!” He replied. He digged into some fat kid’s winter jacket and got a huge stack of Pogs.
For those of you who don’t know what Pogs are, they’re little thin piece of cardboard with pictures on the cover. It was a game hugely popular among kids like, 12 years ago.
“I’ll give you half of the Pogs,” said Quang, “Thanks for watching out”
Quang was a thieving 8 years old but a smart one. His IQ was somewhere near the top of the class. While most kids in grade 3 struggled with the multiplication table (like me), he whizzed through it. He solved complex math problems (for a 3rd grader anyways) without trying. In short, he as a genius.
At one point we had a fight in the school yards for reasons I don’t remember. We’re grabbing on to each other and exchanging knee blows. I was getting the upper hand when he started crying.
“What the hell, why are you crying” I asked.
“So you would stop hitting me.” he replied. I stopped.
Then he started kneeing me again!
“What … the ….”
“I tricked you!”
He moved, and I never see him again until grade 8.
