Is it a distraction or not?

People’s goal takes so long to accomplish because they’re always distracted. Just look at cell phone text messaging, watching TV or reading a novel. Not to mention Myspace and other retarded social networks. Just one big frigging distraction on what truly matters. I bet people spend around 3-6 hours just on distraction. (Some get offended and call it “entertainment”)

I stopped watching television, reading novels, posting on Internet forums or any other thing deem as a distraction and work on my goal 100 percent. It is a hard thing to do, because it is so easy to fall back into your habit and just turn on the TV or log on and watch YouTube all day. Hell, I even stopped watching the news. (because if you look at the news closely, it’s mostly inconsequential. A forest fire here, a lost kid there, a murder here and some other fucking insignificant issues that doesn’t matter in the long run. Plus, it’s just an outlet to instill fear into people)

An interesting concept the Japanese use is Zen Kai, which means continuous improvement. People who apply Zen Kai reach the top 5 percent in any given field. Let’s take poker for example. People say “Well, only a few are winners and the rest are losers in the long run”. Duh, of course. Only those who are delicate to their profession makes it to the top. Not all people are disciplined enough to keep plowing through and reaching the top. That’s why the mass is a mediocre bunch. Only if they let themselves to be, anyway.

So Zen Kai yourself to the top of the world by cutting back the distraction and work on your goal, whatever the truly matters to you.
