Dir En Grey
Dir en grey is one of the best band ever! They’re the one who got me into Jrock. They went from visual kei to not so visual kei, but that’s okay, I’m not a raging fan girl who thinks they’re so “kawai”. It is the music that counts. “Diru” is the best well known Jrock band there is to American fans, because:
A) Kyo, a crazy ass vocalist who likes to fish hook himself (during the 2006 Rock AM tour)
B) Toshiya, the cute former cross dresser who is funny
C) Shinya! Still cross dress, the shy drummer
D) Die and Karou. Yeah yeah, they’re cool.
They’re lastest release, Marrow of the Bone got mixed review. Some good, some bad, it has more of a metal feel to it. Probably one of the most unique thing about Dir En Grey is that their musical taste is ALWAYS evolving. Always. They lose some fans, they gain some, so it’s all good.
They’ve been together for 10 years now, and still going strong. Just hope Kyo’s vocals hold out because he tries to do death vocals and it fucks up his voice! BTW, Shinya, please don’t go anorexic anymore, I love you with some meet on.
